Yan Yu, Ph.D.
Yan Yu adopts an interdisciplinary approach to explore brain plasticity in auditory and cognitive domains—particularly language and music—across both neurotypical individuals and those with neurological impairments. Her research centers on how experiential factors, such as language and musical engagement, shape brain development and how the brain adapts in response to neurointerventions. Drawing from fields including communication sciences and disorders, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and neurointervention, Yu’s work bridges multiple disciplines to deepen our understanding of neural plasticity for language and music processing.
Dr. Yu is a certified speech-language pathologist through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Her clinical expertise focuses on atypical language development in both monolingual and bilingual children, particularly those with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental challenges.
